Backup

How do I set up my first backup?
After you install the client software a registration wizard will help you create your first backup set. You select the files, you select the schedule, you select the frequency. You have complete access to your data 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

When can I do my first backup?
Immediately. As soon as you signup for service and the client software is installed.

Where is my data going?
You files are stored is a Class A Environmental Data Center. This facility has been providing a home for Mission Critical Internet Applications for over 10 years. Your data is sharing space with some of the most respected names in business (NASCAR, USA Today, Compaq,)

Are these backups full backups?
Yes and No. Traditional backup types consisted of Full, Differential and Incremental backups. Our service utilizes the latest in backup technology that allows you optimize the speed and size of your backup sets. It’s called “binary patching”. With binary patching you data is not evaluated as a file rather, as a continuous string of binary data. Binary patching is capable of comparing files and extracting only the “patches” of binary data that have changed. Simply put, If only 1 kilobyte of data has actually changed in the file, then only a 1 kilobyte patch is extracted for backup thus eliminating the overhead imposed by older methodologies.

Can I do more than one backup a day?
Yes. If you have critical files or a database that change frequently throughout the day, you may want to backup the data 3 or 4 times a day. This will ensure the most current version of you file is off-site.

How long will my first backup take?
Depending on the amount of data and you Internet connection this will vary. . If you have a large amount of data to backup you can start and stop the backup process at your leisure. This will allow you to perform the backup when it works best for you. Once this first full backup is complete, the daily backups will take little or no time at all.

Will the backup slow down my computer if I am working on other applications?
No. eBackups operates very efficiently. We know that some backups are done while you are working on the system and others are done after hours. We allow you to easily change the CPU utilization to meet your needs. You can give the backup application all the processing power it needs, or make it subordinate to other tasks.

What if I miss a scheduled backup?
If a scheduled backup is missed, the next time your computer is started the Event Manager will display the missed event and ask you what you would like to do. This is useful for laptop users who may be out of the office during a scheduled backup.

How do I know the backup worked?
eBackups sends an e-mail upon completion. Whether it’s a successful backup or one with a warning, a summary of the backup is sent in the body of the message and the complete log file can even be sent as an attachment.

Can I interrupt a backup in progress?
No problem, with the Event Manger have no fear. This important feature allows you to resume an interrupted backup at a later time.

What if I travel frequently with a laptop?
This service is perfect for you. Backup our your data day or night from any Internet connection. The Event Manager will allow you to easily manage your backups. Perhaps you set the system to perform a backup prior to shutting down the system. The options are many.
